MCM travertine flexible stone is a new type of decorative material made primarily from cement, natural colored sand, and high molecular polymers, with a composite alkali-resistant fiber reinforcement layer, and processed through a low-temperature molding technique. It can be bent to conform to irregular architectural surfaces, boasts a weather resistance of up to 25 years, and meets A2 grade fire protection standards. It is suitable for various applications such as external wall insulation systems and renovation of old walls.

Detail

Material and composition

Natural stone powder/scraps: accounting for 60%-80%, it is the main component, providing the authentic texture and mineral feel of the stone. It is mostly derived from the recycling of mine waste.

Polymer resin: With a content of 15%-30%, it serves as a binder, imparting flexibility and bendability to materials. Commonly used types include epoxy resin and polyurethane.

Glass fiber mesh/base cloth: added to some products to enhance the tensile strength of materials and prevent cracking.

Inorganic pigments: added in small amounts to adjust colors and restore the natural stone texture.

Protective coating: The surface is coated with a UV coating or nano-glaze layer, which serves to repel water and stains.

Production process

Taking MCM flexible stone as an example, first, plant fat, soapberry, and deionized water are made into modifiers under the action of ultrasonic waves. Then, they are repeatedly compounded with natural stone powder, ordinary soil, natural mineral pigments, etc. in a temperature-controlled spray room through more than 30 processes to form a plastic MCM material. Finally, it is molded under a controlled temperature curve and gamma-ray radiation.

Feature

Flexible and bendable: With a minimum bendable radius of 5cm, it can easily wrap around cylindrical, curved, and other irregular structures, while traditional stone materials are rigid and fragile, unable to bend.

Lightweight and space-saving: With a thickness of only 1-3mm and a weight as light as 3-5kg/m², it is only 1/10 of natural stone, reducing building loads.

Efficient construction: It can be directly pasted with tile adhesive, without the need for a dry-hanging joist frame, saving 60% of the construction period and labor costs.

Environmental protection and energy conservation: Utilizing mine waste without radioactive pollution, some products can be recycled and degraded, meeting the national standard GB 6566-2010.

Strong durability: Weather resistance from -40℃ to 90℃, UV aging resistance, outdoor service life ≥15 years, indoor ≥25 years.

Common types

Single-layer flexible stone: Consisting of pure stone powder and resin flakes, it has a texture that is closest to natural stone.

Composite flexible stone material: It is made by combining stone powder layers with polyester fiber base cloth, providing enhanced impact resistance and suitable for floor decoration.

Fully flexible tile: With the addition of fully-bodied pigment, there is no color variation at the edges after cutting.

Application field

Architectural decoration: It can be used for exterior wall decoration, adapting to irregular building surfaces and enhancing the aesthetics of exterior walls. It can also be applied to interior walls, ceilings, partitions, etc., providing more creative space for interior design.

Advertising display: Due to its malleability and flexibility, it can be used to create advertising signs, signboards, display walls, etc., enhancing the attractiveness and creativity of advertising displays.

Building maintenance and repair: Especially for the restoration of old buildings, its malleability and foldability make the repair work more convenient and reduce the impact on the original building structure.
